Visitor service hours extended

The visitor information service at Elgin library is to extend its opening hours.

From April the information desk will be open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Friday.

And from September through to June it will operate from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, while at the height of the season – July and August – it will be open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

The new arrangements will represent an additional 20 hours a week in the off-season and 10 hours a week during the peak season.

The visitor information service relocated to Elgin library from its former premises at the east end of High Street two years ago.

It is envisaged that it will eventually move to the nearby Grant Lodge in Cooper Park as part of a proposed redevelopment of the historic building which has lain empty and unused since a fire several years ago.
